Bellevue Sister Cities Association has been exchanging Eastside high school students with our Sister Cities since 1977!
Each year the BSCA sponsors travel for four selected high school students from the Eastside area to spend part of their summer (approximately 3 weeks) in one of our Sister Cities and in return their families host a student from one of our Sister Cities. The host families involve their exchange student in their normal summer activities and are free to plan their own activities for the visiting students. BSCA will also involve these students in its summer activities, most usually a picnic and meeting Bellevue elected officials.
Cost of the student exchange is shared between BSCA and the host family. In 2019 each host family covered $500 and BSCA covered the rest. Since BSCA is a non-profit that survives on fundraising, to maintain this incredibly low cost for host families requires a lot of work throughout the year!
